Citizen News Service (CNS) syndicates content generated in four languages (English, Hindi, Urdu and Thai) by voluntary citizen journalists on issues they are dealing with in daily life, under creative commons attribution license - which basically means anyone is free to publish/use our content in full or part with due credit. There are media outlets (print newspapers, TV, FM radio, websites and other forms of media including web 2.0 portals) that give space to CNS content.
Citizen News Service (CNS) is facilitated by Jay Inspire Co Ltd - Multimedia and Communication Services, based in Thailand.
In early 1990s, Priyanka Features, a development news/ feature agency in Hindi/ English, laid the foundation of Citizen News Service (CNS).
CNS correspondents and fellows of CNS writers' bureau write from the frontlines of the ongoing people's movements to establish a just social order, in many languages, including: Hindi, English, Thai and Urdu. CNS strives to focus on issues most pertinent to the most disadvantaged people - and is grateful to media for publishing the articles.
Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for emergent leadership (2002), Dr Sandeep Pandey, and senior Narmada Bachao Andolan activist, Arundhati Dhuru, have been a driving force behind this initiative to give voice to the neglected issues affecting lives of the majority of humankind in our pursuit of a just social order.
